1. Can you give us a bit of background on yourself and what you do at Insight?
I studied for a degree in mathematics at Sheffield Hallam University. During this time I had exposure to programming and coding during my placement year in Leeds. Soon after graduating, I felt this was not the path I wanted to take. I wanted a job that challenged me more and allowed room for progression and flexibility in the way I work.
Since, I’ve embarked on the InsightEDGE graduate programme. I have received a lot of training around the business, the solution areas, as well as from Pareto Law, where I am also taking part in an apprenticeship alongside the InsightEDGE programme.
At Insight, I am an Inside Account Manager, building my portfolio of non- spend accounts. My day-to-day consists of profiling accounts to enable me to have quality conversations with clients. As a result, I’ve managed to secure meetings with IT Managers and even COO’s.
2. What tech industry trends do you predict for the next decade?
I believe Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are becoming a lot more prevalent in the industry. As both processes contribute towards automation, industries are wanting automated processes to ensure we get more using less resources, effectively increasing productivity.
3. What’s the most frustrating thing about the tech industry?
The pace at which everything changes is so fast – both good and bad. You never know what’s around the corner and you always have to be prepared to adapt.
4. What’s your earliest tech memory?
My earliest memory is when I was 5 years old, using Apple Mac computers in infant school. I particularly remember using Paint to create a Mother’s Day card to print out. I completely loved the concept of being able to click with the mouse on different colours to create various patterns. There was only one computer in each classroom at that time, and I remember being very excited when I was allowed to use it.
5. How would your best friend describe you in 3 words?
Intelligent, caring and always laughing.
6. What one piece of tech could you not live without?
My phone which is an obvious answer. It has everything I need at the touch of a button. It acts as a phone, TV, laptop, music player, shopping assistant and TomTom/Navigator all rolled into one.
7. What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I can dance hip-hop as well as Bollywood dance. This was something I was taught since the age of 7. I enjoy expressing myself through dance and coming up with different choreographed routines. I used to teach dance to many people who wanted to learn a Bollywood or hip-hop routine for an event/wedding.
