Rely IT, a mid-sized IT service provider in Sweden, helps customers with all or part of their IT needs. The ultimate goal? To simplify everyday work for customers so that they can concentrate on their core business and be successful there. To fulfil this mission and meet the exponential growth of one of their major customers, Rely IT worked with Insight to migrate to Microsoft Azure. Or, as Kenneth Hagström, Technical Team Leader at Rely IT says: “Insight helped us to get our feet off the ground and into the cloud.”
Rely IT had always served customers from their on-premises data centre to everybody’s satisfaction. Among them a really large customer who grew by almost 100% annually, from 20 users to well over 2,500. This customer recently bought an international company, which even further extended their growth ambitions. Rely IT realised that they needed a different strategy outside their own data centre to be able to scale much faster in order to keep up with this customer’s ambitions. The company decided to consider redundancy in uptime and scaling; issues they could no longer solve on premise. Kenneth Hagström said: “If we had managed from our own data centre, we would have purchased all the hardware, however it would have taken a lot more man-hours and additional costs to deploy and manage the system. In addition, we would always have had the risk of technical problems, outages and downtime latency. This helped us decide that we had to move to the cloud.”
Insight introduced Rely IT to the Insight Cloud Journey, the dedicated, step-by-step cloud adoption approach for the cloud channel. Kenneth Hagström: “Azure is such a big platform that we absolutely needed help with the initial steps to onboard the platform and with purchasing licences and obtaining the agreements correctly. Insight had always helped us before so asking Insight was a no-brainer.”
Insight helped Rely IT to familiarise with Azure and assess how they could best benefit from the platform in terms of infrastructure, costs and future business opportunities. Kenneth Hagström explains: “Insight helped us calculate all the alternatives. An Insight consultant worked with us in a three-day workshop to get us going, and answered all our questions. We then developed a hybrid plan to migrate services for existing customers. Insight supported us from our first migration to Azure and Office 365: 280 users in four days, through to the final migration.”
Now that Rely IT is well on its way with Azure, Insight helps to optimise and monitor services, billing and licensing, and informs about new services relevant to their business.
