Bridging the gap between People, Process and Technology – and what we’re doing to remedy this.
The last few months have been fraught with activity building out our Productivity Adoption Services. Now that we have launched the services, I can reflect on not just what we have achieved, but how and why we did it.
As with any service development we start at the very beginning: What are we trying to solve? Why would we create services around Productivity and Adoption?
The justification is easy: it's all about helping our clients to digitally transform their organisations for the better.
These days, companies need to work in a more agile and efficient manner. Technology continues to move at an accelerated rate, businesses either adapt or face extinction. The tools provided by the Office 365 suite are the perfect vehicle to enable this, and Microsoft Teams is top of the transformative application list. There is clear evidence that many of our clients are not fully adopting Office 365 - Teams in particular - and many are still working inside email. Therefore IT and C-Level leaders view the overall Office 365 license investment as not delivering the ROI it should be.
At Insight, we can help by building services that look at where the client is now in their transformation journey around Office 365 and Teams (Teamwork Assessment). We can further assist them by utilising a tool to guide them through the transition - luckily we have our own Intellectual Property to do that with Insight Digital Workspace™, and we can quickly implement that (Fixed Insight Digital Workspace™ Implementation), helping them to drive user adoption of both Microsoft Teams and Insight Digital Workspace™ at a very cost competitive price point with a bundled service (Fixed Price Adoption).
Ultimately, this is all about people. It’s about developing the tools that empower them to work smarter. The applications are already available to them but do they know how to set them up effectively or how to use them to their full advantage? That’s where Insight comes in. We have the expertise, and now the services to help - simple, job done and for all the right reasons - great!
Now that we’ve covered why we have done this, do we actually know why we HAD to do it?
Perhaps, it’s because, as a whole, the IT industry has failed to deliver on one of its core tenets: connecting People, Process and Technology. There is no denying that huge strides have been made with Technology. We also know how Processes have been automated and simplified over time. But, we have been so focused on these parts that the client (the People using the tech) have been neglected - to the point that consumer applications are a far better experience than what’s available in the business world. Services are the solution. They bridge the gaps between Technology, Process and People.
So how did we build these services internally at Insight?
Through fantastic teamwork involving Teammates from Services, Marketing, L&D, Sales, Solutions Sales Specialists, Legal, Sales Operations, Customer Success, Product Management…. in fact, pretty much every department!
We have worked virtually; living and breathing Microsoft Teams over the past four months, co-authoring documents in real time using Teams and OneDrive or SharePoint. We have had some physical meetings, but mainly we met up using the video function on Teams. We tracked our progress in Planner, and now our training and enablement will be delivered as e-learning to help us scale our resources. There are so many examples of how we practice what we preach, connecting the people to the technology and process, evidenced by how we build these services.
We could not have achieved all of this and launched three services in parallel within record time without having the Office 365 technology available, but more importantly, without everyone fully embracing and adopting all of the benefits it can bring.
So now, as I reflect back on why we are doing this, yes we are answering the clients’ needs and we are doing it by ensuring People, Process and Technology work in harmony. We can also say we are leading by example – which is why I am confident we can and will succeed.
