    As previously announced by Microsoft, Exchange Server Subscription Edition and Skype for Business Server Subscription Edition will be made generally available in July 2025.

    In order to deploy and use Subscription Edition server products, customers must have active Software Assurance (SA) or cloud subscription licenses for all users and devices that access them.

    To support ongoing maintenance and updates for Microsoft’s on-premises server products, prices for all standalone on-premises server products (SharePoint Server, Exchange Server, and Skype for Business Server) will increase by 10% from July 1, 2025, alongside general availability of Exchange Server Subscription Edition and Skype for Business Subscription Edition.

    Prices for Core CAL Suite and Enterprise CAL Suite, which have been static for some time, will increase by 15% and 20%, respectively from August 1, 2025.

May 2025:

  1. How to seamlessly upgrade existing subscriptions to the new three-year SKU

    Starting June 1, 2025, three-year subscription terms for Microsoft 365 E3, Microsoft 365 E5, and Teams Enterprise will be available through Microsoft’s Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program.
    Additionally, Microsoft E5 Security and Microsoft 365 E5 Compliance will offer three-year terms beginning July 1, 2025.

    These longer-term subscriptions allow you to lock in pricing for three years, which is especially valuable in markets outside the U.S. where currency fluctuations can impact cost predictability and budgeting.

    To support this, Microsoft has made it easy to convert existing one-month or one-year subscriptions into a three-year term - even mid-term.

    Upgrade Path Overview:

    Microsoft has introduced new SKUs specifically for the three-year terms.
    To upgrade your current Microsoft 365 E3, E5, or Teams Enterprise subscription, follow these steps:

    * Log in to your Cloud Commerce Platform(CCx) at buy.insight.com
    * Navigate to your existing subscription
    * Select Upgrade
    * Enter the license quantity to upgrade (full or partial)
    * Choose the three-year term SKU from the upgrade options
    * Select the destination subscription (new or existing three-year term)
    * Choose your preferred billing frequency
    * Accept the latest terms and conditions
    * Click Upgrade

  2. Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1 grant discontinuation for nonprofit customers

    Microsoft will discontinue the Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1 grants for nonprofit customers through both the CSP and Web Direct channels. This change will take effect upon the next renewal date on or after July 1, 2025.

    Nonprofit organizations with existing subscriptions that renew before July 1, 2025, may continue using them until the end of their current term. However, these subscriptions will expire at renewal and will not be eligible for renewal under the grant program.

    To support nonprofit organizations during this transition, Microsoft will continue to offer up to 300 free licenses of Microsoft 365 Business Basic and discounts of up to 75% on a wide range of Microsoft 365 nonprofit plans, including Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1.

    If your organization currently uses granted Business Premium licenses, it’s important to begin planning for a transition ahead of your next renewal date.

    Please contact us to develop a tailored transition plan that best fits your organization’s needs.

  3. Three-year subscription terms for Microsoft 365 E3 and E5, Microsoft Teams Enterprise & Microsoft 365 E5 Security & E5 Compliance coming to CSP

    On May 1, 2025, Microsoft announced three-year subscription terms for Microsoft 365 E3 and E5, Teams Enterprise and Microsoft E5 Security & Compliance coming to CSP.

    This will enable customers to manage their costs by locking their Microsoft product purchase price for three years.
    It is especially important in markets with local currencies, where exchange (FX) rate fluctuations impact price predictability and operating costs.

    Customers that have recently purchased one-year term subscription, will be able upgrade their subscription even mid-term from their one-year term to a 3-year subscription term.

    From June 1, 2025, Microsoft will launch three-year subscription terms for Microsoft E3 and E5, with or without Teams, as well as Teams Enterprise licenses in CSP.

    From July 1, 2025, three-year subscriptions for Microsoft 365 E5 Security and Microsoft 365 E5 Compliance mini suites will also be available.

    The plans are available for purchase with three-year upfront or triennial/annual billing options only.
    Minimum purchase requirement of 100 licenses (enforced at the SKU level).

    In addition to the availability of three-year term subscriptions, Microsoft will launch new 10% discount promotions for new-to Microsoft E3 or E5 customers.
    More info on the new promotions can be found in the New Commerce Experience (NCE) promotions section below.
