What do you do as an Insight Account Manager in our Corporate division?
I build strong relationships with my clients to create solutions and guidance to allow businesses to access their full potential by optimising all of their IT needs. I make sure my client’s solutions are individualised to their company by utilising the vast experience and resources we have at Insight.
What is the best part of your job?
The best parts of my job include the people and the potential I have to succeed. I believe I can go anywhere in this company and I while doing so, will have the full support of the people around me. Insight has cultivated an environment of positivity and determination and you can see that through the individuals they have hired. Within my first year, I have made friends for life and that makes the job so much more enjoyable. We drive a team mentality at Insight and I walk into work smiling every day.
What does Insight allow you to do that wasn’t in your job description?
It’s hard to know where to start. I came in from day one wanting to make an impact on the company and I have not been held back once because of my job title. I have reverse mentored my sales director, done walk in my shoes, I am a member of the Diversity & Inclusivity team, and began management training.
I thrive off having responsibility and Insight has given me a multitude of opportunities. Being able to do work that falls outside of my job description has played a massive significance in my confidence and has only strengthened my loyalty to Insight.
Managers can certainly impact a job experience - how has your manager impacted your time at Insight so far?
I have had two different managers over the last year had different management styles. With that said, the support I have received from both managers has been exceptional. The leadership my managers have shown has been immensely inspiring for myself. The most important attribute that both my managers have had is that of individualising their team. In no situation have I ever felt like my managers have managed all of the team the same way. They find a way to adapt their management style to each person and this breeds a culture of mutual respect.
It's only been a year for you, but how has the organisation changed in your tenure?
Even in my short time, I can say I have noticed our Insight vision becoming much more clear. Our company drives its people-focused and value-driven culture. This is evident in Insight UK ranking 7th in Great Place to Work’s 2019 list of Best Workplaces in Tech.
What does success in your job at Insight look like to you?
My outlook on my definition has evolved while at Insight. I have realised it is not the job title that makes me successful but what I can give back to the company and others. Success, for me, will be in a position where I am giving others opportunities, where I am viewed as a strong and inspirational leader, and always making sure I do better than yesterday.
What is it like working for an organisation that has a large number of women in leadership roles?
I feel very proud. Coming from a small town in Kansas it wasn’t often that I interacted with women in leadership roles. It has been so inspiring to engage with women who share similar passions to my own in regards to work. I have always felt like an equal at Insight and no point have I felt that being female has held me back, nor pushed me forward. I am valued on my contribution to the company rather than my gender and that is very important to me.
What are the top reasons someone should join Insight?
The culture. We spend so much of our time in life working, it would be nonsensical not to try and enjoy it! And Insight, in my eyes, has established such an amazing balance of driving each other to work hard while having a place where you feel at home.
